All Wingate University students taking 12 or more credit hours (full-time) and all health science majors are required to provide proof of private health-insurance coverage OR enroll in Wingate University's student insurance plan. Non-health-science majors taking less than 12 hours are not eligible to enroll in the school plan; ALL health science majors are required to have health insurance regardless of credit hours enrolled.

Wingate University has partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBS) to offer health insurance for those not currently covered. Students must complete the WAIVER or ENROLLMENT portion before the first day of class.

Online registration opens October 18.

The Wingate University student health insurance plan provides coverage for one full year (through July 31, 2022). The cost of this plan for the 2021-2022 school year is $1,246/semester. The enrollment and waiver process requires action from students before the beginning of each semester.

I HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE
If you have your OWN health insurance you can waive out of Wingate's BCBS policy by following the instructions below. You will need your insurance card in order to complete the form.

1. Go to http://studentbluenc.com/#/wingate.
2. Click on “waive” tab across the top banner.
3. Click on “request a waiver” (blue tab).
4. Click on “new users” tab (you must create an account even if waiving the insurance).
5. Click on “request waiver” (pink tab).
6. Enter your Wingate University ID number and date of birth (as indicated).
7. Enter in all information needed on the “Waiver Request-Spring 2022” page. If you have comparable
coverage, please check the box indicating so.
8. Please check the “Waiver Agreements” box indicating that you agree to the information you
entered.

You will receive an email stating that your waiver request is pending approval. Once your waiver is approved, your student account will receive a credit of $1,246. This may take up to three weeks to post to your student account.

I DO NOT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE

If you do not have health insurance, you will need to enroll in Wingate's BCBS policy by following the instructions below:

1. Go to http://studentbluenc.com/#/wingate.
2. Click on “enroll” tab across the top banner.
3. Click on “enroll now” (blue tab).
4. Click on “new users” tab.
5. Click on “enroll” (pink tab).
6. Enter your Wingate University ID number and date of birth (as indicated).
7. Enter in all information needed on “Enrollment Request-Spring 2022.” If you have a
spouse or dependent, you may request coverage at this time in the “Add Dependent
Coverage” section. This will be billed separately to you directly through BCBS.
8. Read over and check the boxes under “Statement of Understanding” and “Authorization
for Release of Protected Health Information.”
9. Check the box under “Application of Signature” and click “Submit” (pink tab).
You will receive a confirmation email once you have successfully enrolled.
